Our history…

The Blue Heron, established in 1943 and a part of New Zealand holidays for generations, is one of a handful of waterfront holiday parks in Northland. Named for the birds who nest in our 200-year-old Pohutukawa trees, the park sits on a private peninsula on the shores of the Whangarei Harbour. It is a nature lovers’ haven with abundant bird life, including herons, tuis, spoonbills, and rosellas, and marine life, including dolphins and even orca.

Use Blue Heron as a secure, peaceful and picturesque stop for the night, or your home base while you explore this stunning part of New Zealand.  Set in native, subtropical bush, our boutique size and standards with a genuine warm, friendly kiwi welcome, will ensure your holiday, stopover, reunion, group getaway or special event will be magical.
